Curriculum Vitae

From 1994-1998 he studied business and economics at the University of Wuppertal. Between 1999 and 2009 he worked as a research assistant and assistant professor at the Chair for Organization and Strategic Management at the FernUniversität in Hagen, where he received his PhD in 2004 and his habilitation in 2009. Since April 2010 he holds the Chair of Business Administration, in particular Work, Human Resource Management and Organization Studies at the Heinrich-Heine-University Düsseldorf.

He has published several articles about organization, human resource management and (international) management. Furthermore, he is a reviewer for international and national journals and conferences. From 2012 until 2014 he was a member of the editorial board of the European Management Journal. In 2016 he became a member of the editorial board of the German Journal of Research in Human Resource Management (ZfP). He also taught courses at several universities including the University Duisburg-Essen, the European School of Management ESCP-EAP Berlin, the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten (Austria) and the Düsseldorf Business School.

Since May 2019 coordinator of the research project undefinedDigiWerk, which is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Social Fund. He led the research project „Freelancers in conflict between flexibility and stability”, which is funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Social Fund. Currently he is leader of three subprojects: the BMBF-project DYNAMIK 4.0, the BMBF-project SEEGEN and the BMBF-project PragmatiKK.

Since April 2016 speaker of the Manchot Graduate School "Competitiveness of Young Enterprises" (WEJU). Participation in successful external funding (e.g., DFG, BMBF, the state of NRW).

From October 2013 until December 2014 and since October 2018 Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration and Economics at the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. From January 2015 until September 2017 he was Vice President for Quality in Studies and Human Resource Management. Since May 2016 President of the Academic Advisory Board of the Düsseldorf Business School.
