Business Administration for Non-Economists

Since the winter semester 2021/22, the module “Business Administration for Non-Economists” has been offered under the sole responsibility of the Chair of Business Administration, with a focus on Work, Human Resources and Organization.

The module is offered every semester to meet the demand for business administration knowledge among students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Medicine.

The module includes the following courses:

Course 1: Strategic Management for Non-Economists (2 contact hours per week, 3 ECTS)
Course 2: Organization and Human Resources for Non-Economists (2 contact hours per week, 3 ECTS)
Course 3: Finance and Entrepreneurship for Non-Economists (2 contact hours per week, 3 ECTS)
Course 4: Marketing for Non-Economists (2 contact hours per week, 3 ECTS)
Course 5: Seminar on Current Topics in Business Administration (2 contact hours per week, 3 ECTS)
Course 6: Soft Skills Seminar (2 contact hours per week, 3 ECTS)

Students may complete the full module. To do so, they must successfully complete three courses from Courses 1–4 and submit a seminar paper (8 contact hours per week, 12 ECTS). According to various examination regulations, the full module may be recognized as a minor subject (Option 1, see below). Students are responsible for verifying whether this option is applicable to their respective degree program. Enrollment in and recognition of the seminar (Course 5) is only possible after successfully completing three of the courses listed above (Courses 1–4). The module is considered successfully completed once students have passed three written examinations from Courses 1–4 and successfully completed Course 5.

Alternatively, students may choose individual courses from Courses 1–4 based on their interests. Each course can be completed with a written examination, awarding 3 ECTS credits (2 contact hours per week) per course (Option 2, see below).

Course 6 is offered as an optional additional component and may only be taken after completing at least one of the courses from Courses 1–4.

Participation in Course 6 is limited. The course has been offered since the summer semester 2022.
